Battle of the Bands Monmouth: Terms and Conditions
Battle of the Bands Monmouth is dedicated to providing emerging artists with a platform to showcase their talent and gain exposure. To ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants, the following terms and conditions apply.
Eligibility
The competition is open to unsigned bands of all genres.
Bands must enter one of the two categories:
Under 18s: All members must be under 18 at the time of entry. Participants under 16 require parental or guardian consent.
Over 18s: All members must be 18 or older.
Each band must consist of at least two (2) members.
Bands must perform at least one original song.
Registration
All bands must submit an online application, including a live performance video (sent to info@battleofthebandsmonmouth.co.uk via www.wetransfer.com) and a short bio.
The deadline for entries is Friday 4th April 2025.
By registering, bands agree to adhere to all competition rules and regulations.
Performance Guidelines
Each band will be allocated a 15-minute performance slot, including setup and breakdown time.
All performances must be live, however click tracks and tracks are permitted as per modern music production alongside a live performance band setup. Karaoke backing tracks are not accepted as performances under the terms of this competition.
Bands may perform a mix of two original or cover songs BUT the audition must include ‘David Bowie – Rebel Rebel’.
Equipment & Setup
A standard backline will be provided, including a drum kit, amplifiers, and microphones.
Bands must bring their own instruments and any additional equipment they require.
Bands are responsible for the security and maintenance of their own equipment.
Judging Criteria
Bands will be judged based on the following:
Musical Performance: Quality, originality, and musicianship.
Stage Presence: Energy, engagement, and professionalism.
Crowd Interaction: Ability to connect with and engage the audience.
Overall Impression: General impact and entertainment value.
Prizes
Under 18s: Winners receive professional recording sessions, mentoring opportunities, and a performance slot at YFest, www.yfest.co.uk
Over 18s: Winners receive professional recording time, promotional support, and a festival performance at Monmouth Rising www.monmouthrising.com
Code of Conduct
Band names and lyrics must not contain offensive or obscene material.
Band members must wear attire free from offensive language or imagery.
The use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited. Any band member found under the influence will result in disqualification.
Participants must be respectful towards other bands, event staff, and attendees.
Disqualification
Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in immediate disqualification.
Liability
Battle of the Bands Monmouth is not responsible for any injuries, theft, or damage to equipment during the event.
Media Release
By entering, bands grant permission for their name, likeness, and performance to be used in promotional material without compensation.
Amendments
The organisers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time, with changes communicated to participants.
