Our panel of judges for the Battle of the Bands Monmouth brings together a wealth of experience from various facets of the music and entertainment industry, ensuring that participating bands receive valuable insights, constructive feedback, and genuine opportunities to progress in their musical journey.

Jo Riou
Leading the panel is Jo Riou, owner of the legendary Monnow Valley Studio. Jo has worked alongside iconic producer Andrew Scheps and collaborated with world-famous artists, including Oasis, Robert Plant & Stereophonics. Her expertise in artist development and studio production makes her an invaluable judge for emerging talent.

Justin Wildridge
Justin is a versatile composer for film, TV, games, and library music, passionate about creating evocative scores that enhance visuals. Blending live and electronic sounds, he crafts sonorous orchestral soundscapes with rich electronic elements for gritty, passionate soundtracks.
His music has featured worldwide, including on The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and Banged Up Abroad. He continues composing for Thermal Music, Arms Music Productions, and Evolution Media Music, with a recent commission from Atomic Music resulting in the innovative Spine Chillers album.

Niki Felstead
Niki is a highly accomplished actress, motion capture artist, and voice actor. After training at E15 Drama School in London, she worked in theatre, film, and children’s television, as well as motion capture for Harry Potter, Terminator, and 24. Over the past decade, she has primarily focused on voice acting, lending her talents to Lazy Town, Bubble Guppies, Jim Henson’s Pyjanimals, Rubble & Crew, Baby Shark, and PAW Patrol.

Richard Bailey
Richard Bailey is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in the music and entertainment industry. His extensive experience encompasses various roles, including artist management, performance logistics, and marketing strategies. Richard‘s deep understanding of the industry’s intricacies makes him a valuable asset to any project he undertakes.Throughout his career, Richard has demonstrated a commitment to supporting and guiding emerging talent, helping musicians navigate the complexities of the music business.

Mark Decloedt
Mark is best known as the original drummer for the British alternative rock band EMF, which gained prominence in the early 1990s with their hit single "Unbelievable." Formed in 1989 in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, EMF achieved international success with their debut album, Schubert Dip, reaching number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. Mark’s dynamic drumming was a key component of EMF’s energetic sound, contributing to their distinctive blend of alternative rock and dance elements.

Matt Culpepper
Matt brings over 25 years of experience in event, tour, and sales management, covering everything from arena tours to broadcast media and live performance environments. His expertise in business development, digital production, and commercial relationship management provides contestants with insight into the strategic and commercial aspects of a music career.
